Nina Smidt to take on further responsibilities

ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius Creates New Position for Global Strategic Development

·     Dr. Nina Smidt promoted to Director of International Strategic Planning and Business Development

·     Birte Gall to become CEO of Bucerius Education GmbH

Hamburg/New York: June 20st, 2011

The ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius, one of the largest private foundations based in Hamburg, Germany, announced the promotion of Dr. Nina Smidt to become the foundation’s first Director of International Strategic Planning and Business Development. In the newly created position, Dr. Smidt will report directly to the President of the ZEIT-Stiftung, Professor Michael Goering.

“The decision reflects our growing international presence and enables us to carry out the visions of Gerd and Ebelin Bucerius in new regions,” said Professor Michael Goering, President of the ZEIT-Stiftung. The new office of International Strategy Planning and Business Development will build on ZEIT-Stiftung’s programs and partnerships in the United States and initiate programs and partnerships in other regions and areas.

Dr. Smidt will remain as President of the American Friends of Bucerius, the ZEIT-Stiftung’s friendship organization in the United States based in New York. She previously served as the CEO of the Bucerius Education GmbH, which offers educational and training services for the legal profession.

Birte Gall will succeed Dr. Smidt as Chief Executive Officer of the Bucerius Education GmbH, which is based in Hamburg. Ms. Gall has been the Director of International Exchange Programs at the Bucerius Law School, one of the leading law schools in Europe, and Director of Executive Education and Deputy CEO at Bucerius Education GmbH.
