Center for Studium Generale and Personal Development

Bucerius founder Gerd Bucerius believed that a good lawyer possessed not only excellent legal knowledge and oratory skills, but also a well-rounded personality. This belief shaped the curriculum at Bucerius to include its Studium Generale program, which promotes personal development through non-legal disciplines, including philosophy, culture and politics.

With the newly-founded Siemens AG-funded Center for Studium Generale and Personal Development (ZSP), Bucerius offers students continued opportunities for expansion in their own internal development. In addition to offering the broad Studium Generale program, the ZSP will promote reflection, personal success and well-roundedness by offering students coaching, workshops and service-learning opportunities.

In February, the ZSP officially kicked off its mentoring program, as 43 students returning from their trimester abroad met their mentors for the first time. Both alumni and a cross-section of professionals from diverse backgrounds will be mentoring students this year. And to celebrate Gerd Bucerius Day on June 13th, students and staff of Bucerius Law School will take part in social projects throughout Hamburg.
