AFB Announces New Energy + Innovation Initiative
Energy + Innovation Initiative
Policy and technological developments in the energy sector have fundamentally changed the energy landscape, and the future of energy security and development has become a central focus of domestic, regional, and global policymaking. For the past two years American Friends of Bucerius has led a discussion series on Energy & Law in conjunction with Linklaters LLP, addressing these issues from the legal and transatlantic perspectives. We are now taking the next step by implementing the Energy & Innovation Initiative. This multi-faceted program will continue the discussion events, but move beyond the legal and legislative issues to include changes to the “business” of energy and the impact of regulatory decisions on investments in new energy technology.
Topics for these discussions, taking place in locations across the US, will be selected by the US Energy Circle, a group of high-level energy experts and representatives who are shaping the debate and informing global leaders. This initiative is designed to create a platform for exchange and discussion among academia, policymakers, and practitioners, while highlighting various aspects of the energy sector to the greater public.
The US Energy Circle
American Friends of Bucerius (AFB) has established the AFB Energy Circle, an advisory council of policy makers, regulators, investors, and innovators, which is focused on issues related to energy production, regulation, financing, and technology. The AFB Energy Circle suggests topics and experts from the energy sector for the AFB Energy + Law Program and advises AFB staff on emerging and significant issues within the totality of all of the industries involved in the production and sale of energy, including fuel extraction, manufacturing, refining and distribution.
