Transatlantic Academy Fellows Present Report Across Europe
In May and early June, Transatlantic Academy fellows and staff present the Academy’s 2013-2014 collaborative report Liberal Order in a Post-Western World at events in Berlin, Stuttgart, Brussels, London, Warsaw, and Hamburg. On May 19, Transatlantic Academy fellows begin their European dissemination trip with a presentation of the report to experts at the ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius in Hamburg. The Transatlantic Academy is a research institution devoted to creating common approaches to the long-term challenges facing Europe and North America. Working together from a collaborative and interdisciplinary perspective, Academy fellows bridge the Atlantic academic and policy communities.
Why is the Transatlantic Academy fellowship so attractive for researchers? This year´s senior fellow Charles Kupchan, Professor of International Affairs at Georgetown University and the Whitney H. Shepardson Senior Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, maintains: “The Transatlantic Academy fellowship provides an ideal opportunity to explore issues with a distinguished team of international scholars. The mix of collaborative and individual research affords a unique opportunity for creative exploration of the changing global landscape. The Transatlantic Academy also offers an attractive venue for this work since its fellows are able to draw on the expertise at the German Marshall Fund and within the broader Washington community.”
The Academy was created in 2007 as a partnership between the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) and the ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius. The Robert Bosch Stiftung (since 2008), the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation (since 2008), and the Fritz Thyssen Stiftung (since 2011) joined as full partners. The Academy has also received support from the Joachim Herz Stiftung, the Volkswagen Stiftung, the Aurea Foundation and the Hungary Initiatives Foundation.
