Geopolitics of Energy: United States Energy Diplomacy and Security
On August 19, 2014, American Friends of Bucerius in partnership with the Houston Committee on Foreign Relations hosted a dinner event on International Energy Security at the River Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas.
The event featured a discussion on international energy developments, energy diplomacy, and security. The lecturer, Acting Special Envoy Amos Hochstein, spoke on “The Geopolitics of Energy: United States Energy Diplomacy and Security.” Hochstein’s speech addressed several of the world’s prominent energy hotspots. According to Hochstein, we are witnessing a transformational moment in our country’s history. The energy landscape in the United States has shifted due to a combination of technology, innovation, investment, and entrepreneurship.
Hochstein currently serves as the Coordinator for International Energy Affairs, where he oversees U.S. foreign policy engagement in the crossroads of energy and national security. His work focuses on promoting U.S. interests to ensure energy resources are used to increase economic opportunity, stability and prosperity around the world.
