ZEIT-Stiftung President and CEO Michael Göring joins German President’s Delegation to the US
German President Joachim Gauck visited Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. last week to celebrate the 25th anniversary of German re-unification. President and CEO of ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius, Michael Göring, was selected to be a member of the high-level delegation which accompanied President Gauck as he visited and spoke at several locations leading up to a visit with U.S. President Barack Obama at the White House. You can read President Gauck’s speech in Philadelphia here.
During the trip to Washington DC, American Friends of Bucerius and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) held small-groups discussions on the state of transatlantic relations with Prof. Dr. Goering and Dr. Magrete Wintermantel of the DAAD. These meetings were held with Dr. Jeff Anderson of the BMW Center for German and European Studies at Georgetown University in the morning, and with Dr. Karen Donfried at the German Marshall Fund US in the afternoon.
The inclusion of Dr. Professor Göring was an important recognition of the legacy of Gerd Bucerius and the work of the ZEIT-Stiftung and the Bucerius family of institutions in strengthening civil society, fostering innovative thinking, and sculpting global perspectives.
