Speaker Bios
Brinda Ganguly joined the Rockefeller Foundation in 2008. As a Senior Associate Director, she manages the Foundation’s Program Related Investments (PRI) portfolio; this portfolio of loans, equity investments and guarantees have been made to address social challenges and generate financial returns. Prior to joining Rockefeller, Ms. Ganguly was a Vice President in Citigroup’s Corporate Bank, where she provided corporate finance solutions to healthcare clients. Earlier in her career, she worked at the Soros Foundation, originating and executing PRIs on behalf of the Soros Economic Development Fund, and at Charles River Associates as an economic consultant. Ms. Ganguly serves on the boards of Mission Investors Exchange, an organization that promotes impact investing amongst philanthropies, and Neighbors Together, an anti-poverty organization in east Brooklyn. Ms. Ganguly received a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Spanish from Bryn Mawr and an MBA from Columbia Business School. She lives in New York City with her husband and daughter.
Graham Macmillan serves as Senior Program Officer for Impact Investing at the Ford Foundation. In this role, he is responsible for developing the team’s grant-making strategy and coordinating it closely with our program-related investment. Prior to joining Ford, Graham was Director of Corporate Citizenship Partnerships at Citigroup. As director, Graham worked with Citi’s myriad businesses to drive economic and social impact with clients and other key stakeholders while contributing to Citi’s broader citizenship reporting requirements. He has also served as Senior Program Officer for Financial Inclusion at the Citi Foundation, where he managed the foundation’s international grant making in nearly 90 countries, while also leading investments in innovation, thought leadership, and research. Initially at Citi, Graham managed the Microfinance and Enterprise Development portfolios. Prior to joining Citi, Graham was senior director of VisionSpring, a leading social enterprise selling consumer products to promote economic development. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Aspen Network for Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) and was a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Graham received his BA from Colby College, MSc from NYU Wagner, and MBA through a joint program at NYU Stern, London School of Economics, and HEC Paris School of Management.
Dr. Andreas Rickert is CEO of PHINEO and incubated the organization as Director of the former program ‘civil society’ at Bertelsmann Foundation. Before doing this he was Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company, Inc. working on public sector and healthcare projects in Bahrain, The Netherlands, UK and Switzerland. Andreas worked as Senior Governance Specialist for the World Bank in Washington DC setting up a new program supporting CSs. He studied Biology and did his Ph.D. on genetics in Germany and the United States. He has specific expertise in public-private partnerships, corporate social responsibility (CSR), sustainability, impact investing, social business and philanthropy. Andreas serves on various boards, like the expert group on social entrepreneurship of the European Commission.
Sarah Beth Lardie is Development and Partnerships Manager at American Friends of Bucerius, where she is responsible for building relationships with donors, corporate sponsors, and programmatic and educational partners to further the mission of the organization. For more than a decade, Sarah Beth has been successfully raising money and increasing visibility for a wide variety of non-profits and social ventures operating in the United States and around the world, including the Center for Nonproliferation Studies, Youth for Understanding, Aid for AIDS, and the Jane Goodall Institute. She has worked with a wide variety of individuals and corporations to establish and promote their charitable giving programs. Sarah Beth has also served as an Advisor to the United Nations Economic and Social Council’s Standing Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations. In addition to her extensive non-profit experience, Sarah Beth was a member of the founding management team at Joshua Venture, a social venture fund for non-profit entrepreneurship that operated successfully for four years, funding 16 projects across the United States. Sarah Beth holds a BA in social work and a BA in labor studies from Rutgers University and has earned an MPA with a concentration in Non-Profit Management from the University of Pittsburgh.
