TGA: State Accountability: Dealing with Neo-Nazi Extremism
The American Friends of Bucierus and The American Council on Germany cordially invite you to a Discussion and Luncheon as part of the 2014 Transatlantic Global Agenda series with Dr. Mehmet Daimagüller, Esq., and Alexandra Pyka, LL.B., who will speak on “State Accountability: Dealing with Neo-Nazi Extremism.”
Dr. Mehmet Daimagüler is a lawyer based in Berlin. As a co-plaintiff he is representing several relatives of victims of the National Socialist Underground, an extreme right group, at the trial in Munich. He is also one of the leading political activists on German-Turkish issues and was the first German of Turkish descent to be elected to the national board of a German political party. He spearheads inter-religious dialogue in Germany, bridging, in particular, the Muslim-Jewish divide. Dr. Daimagüler studied law at the University of Bonn. He is a graduate of Harvard’s Kennedy School (“Master in Public Administration”) and was a World Fellow at Yale University.
Alexander Pyka studied Law at Bucerius Law School in Germany and Tel Aviv University in Israel. He recently finished his doctorate in International Law while working as personal advisor to former German chancellor Gerhard Schröder. He is founder and board member at the Young Initiative on Foreign Affairs and International Relations (www.IFAIR.eu) and has worked with Dr. Daimagüler on the NSU-trial from its early beginnings.
